All of the classes are designed to prepare you for labor and delivery so that you and your partner will feel confident, informed and relaxed during your birth experience. In each course, the topics covered will include stages and progression of labor, variations of labor, natural births and options for pain management, coping techniques, your birthing team, interventions and prevention, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and your postpartum plan. My goal is to create a supportive environment for you and your partner to gain knowledge and be better prepared during labor and childbirth. We will practice several different comfort measures and relaxation techniques. I want you and your partner to leave feeling confident in your knowledge about what to expect during labor and birth.
This is a six hour class offered as a one-day seminar at my home. This class is designed for first-time parents. Topics will include signs and stages of labor, making informed choices, advocacy, birth preference/ plan, navigating birth challenges, comfort and coping techniques, benefits of a doula, natural births, interventions and cesareans, breastfeeding, and how to prepare for a natural birth in a hospital setting.
Private classes are designed to meet your specific needs and concerns, they can be uniquely tailored for first-time parents or as a refresher course for those who may have had a baby and didn't feel adequately prepared or would like to brush up on specific topics. This is a 4 hour class where we will include the same topics as the one-day seminar in less depth and tailored to your needs.
"When a woman feels confident in her body, well supported and able to express herself without inhibition, the pain that she may feel in labor and birth can become easily bearable and just one part of the process." -Sarah J. Buckley, MD
