Nurturing Support for Growing Families
A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a pregnant mother and her partner before, during, and after childbirth. In my doula practice I take the time to personalize the care I provide to fit the individual needs of the birthing mom and her partner throughout late pregnancy, labor and birth, and immediate postpartum. Once hired, I am available to you as a supportive member of your birth team, we begin building our relationship with prenatal appointments where we are able to get more acquainted with each other before the birth of your baby. In our prenatal meetings I learn about your desires, hopes, and fears and from that I find the best way to support you while in labor. I will be with you at the hospital during active labor and before your birth to educate and to assist you in advocating for yourself to help you to have a birth experience you will cherish.
I offer in person doula services at hospitals, birth centers, or home births in Santa Barbara County.
I offer both group and private classes to prepare you for your childbirth. My childbirth classes are designed to prepare you for what to expect during late pregnancy, labor and delivery so that you and your partner will feel knowledgeable, confident, and prepared during your birth experience. My classes are designed for those wishing to have a natural birth in a hospital setting but are also beneficial to those having a home or birth center birth. They include a variety of topics related to late pregnancy, labor & birth, and immediate postpartum.
Upcoming classes - October 22th Class size is limited so register now.
My name is Kari Arcuri and I provide Doula and childbirth services to families in the Santa Barbara area. I am an active member of our community and a mom of three kids. I am passionate about childbirth and my personal birthing journey with each of my babies is the source of my inspiration to support women through their own childbirth experience. I believe in birth, your body and having choices. I enjoy educating others so that they are confident in their knowledge and trust in the natural process of birth. I find birth to be both an amazing and empowering experience not only for the laboring mom but for her partner as well. I also believe for it to be empowering it's fundamental that birthing moms be heard, cared for and respected. I am always grateful to be present for the birth of a baby and truly feel that being a part of any birth team is an honor.
I started my journey in supporting pregnant moms in 2012 when I became a DONA Certified Birth Doula. I have since then grown my practice and have been trained as a Childbirth Educator to better serve my doula clients and the local birthing community. I have also spent the past few years working with the Santa Barbara Birth Center as a Midwife Assistant. My experience working with the midwifery model of care at the birth center has strengthened my knowledge and experience of patient led births and evidenced based care. My intention is to provide comfort, continuous support, and information during each stage of the birthing process for an empowered birth experience.
